labiaplasty
Not that I'm considering it, but I was just wondering what everyone's opinion about labiaplasty is? I know many girls/women worry about their labia size. Does anyone know any statistics about labia size in women? I've hear some discussion about 'inees'and 'outies' and was just wanting to start a bit of a discussion about labia differences and wanted to hear the opinions of others. Cheers.

Re: labiaplasty
There are certain "teachings" regarding different Genital Types and it's not only looks that vary. I love that we are all different, if our bodies were all the same (face height weight shape) where would we get our visual gratification. I personally love that we are all different and would hate to think that any woman feels the NEED to change how her pussy looks! Viva la difference.

Re: labiaplasty
Yeh, I agree with Cap's comment. One of my mother's (gay) friends once told me that vaginas are like "faces" different. And obviously they're supposed to be. I don't think women should think they need to go through a painful, expensive procedure just to adhere to some random ideal of "beauty".

Re: labiaplasty
Also remember that most of the photos in "those" magazines are airbrushed, and to whose ideals ?? As a nurse, I've seen a lot of different ones, and know there are lots of different looks; but many many women only see their own and even then only in a mirror, which is not the easiest of perspectives.
besides , I'd be too damn chicken to have any kind of surgery that "might" interfere with sensation; I like all my nerve endings and how they work, thankyou very much !

Re: labiaplasty
I agree with all of the above. Personally I like how longer labia look but thats just me. I think that men have shamed women into believing that theyre unattractive if theyre not perfect, symmetrical, hairless etc, and they make them feel dirty- which has been in the last few years alarmingly affecting the lesbian community.. it never used to, so whats going wrong?
I think its all part of the medias efforts to make people feel unattractive if theyre not smooth, have perfect bodies, etc.. I was watching a show that featured face creams and how they said that the companies were making huge profits sucking people in to believe they actually worked.. its all part of this media propoganda to make people feel socially ugly and rejected if theyre not perfect.. its also affecting men too..
Some porn magazines airbrush longer labia out- but this is also because by law theyre not allowed to show any "pink bits" in over the counter magazines like Picture etc.. so if anythings peeking out, they have to cover it up. The harder magazines do show women in a more realistic light.. if you looked for example at a magazine like "40s plus" you would see much more realistic looking women.. big labia and all. Theyre out there.. its nothing to be ashamed of.. and if a woman is turned off you because of how you look down there, she either needs an education, or shes not right for you.
as for getting labiaplasty i think its a silly waste of money and pain to go through UNLESS you have severe problems with chafing or pain when sitting down or with clothing.. otherwise I think theyre beautiful.. learn to love yourself and to hell with what other people may or may not think.

Above are some pics. Looks a bit too much like genital torture to me for women to have it done. It's funny that genital mutilation in africa is considered so horrendous, but here, it is just expensive and thought of as grooming. See breast ironing post for other forms of female torture.

Re: labiaplasty
I don’t see what the bid deal is. If your boobs are too small you get a boob job, nose to big rhinoplasty, this is no different. If someone feels that self conscience then there is no harm in having plastic surgery as long as you are doing it to make yourself feel better not because you want to please someone else.

Re: labiaplasty
I think its different for two reasons: one, because most women dont realise that their labia are absolutely normal but theyve seen pictures that suggest to them otherwise.. and two, its delicate surgery that can go horribly wrong.. why muck around with bits down there that really shouldnt be interfered with? If you have a flat chest or youre huge (or FTM) sure.. go get a boob job or go get them removed.. provided you understand the risks.. but we are talking really delicate surgery.. unless theyre huge and hanging down inches.. then I cant see the point personally. Most women have some degree of hang (to put it politely) and anything from a few mms to a couple of cms is normal for inner labia length.. and if a surgeon is going to do a procedure like this they will want to have something to work with.. a couple of cms is really nothing..

Re: labiaplasty
If it is really long, just roll up it and wrap it in swaddling clothes and go about your business.

Re: labiaplasty
A close friend had labiaplasty done when she was 15. One side was twice the length of the other and she was always self conscious about it. She's now 31 and says she doesn't regret getting the surgery. I think if you're getting it done for your own reasons by a reputable surgeon, then I don't see a problem.

If I were in her shoes, I would prob have done the same thing. There's only so much, 'is there something wrong with it?' a person can take.

Re: labiaplasty
To be honest, I found the naturally 'asymmetrical' labias in the first set of pictures much more attractive than the second- let's just say there's more to work with ; I'm not saying the second set isn't nice, its just that... there's nothing there from a textural point of view. Except for the one that's just been shaped. That's nice, but I'd have been fine with the Before.
much like dove's www.campaignforrealbeauty.com, we probably need a broader representation where the labia is concerned

Re: labiaplasty - HYMEN REPLACEMENT???
Went to that website and was gobsmacked - not by the labiaplasty (that's bad enough that women now have ANOTHER reason to hate their normal bodies) but HYMEN REPLACEMENT??? FFS! Why - and how many times would you undergo it and WHY? *shakes head and sheds a tear for women around the world*

Re: labiaplasty - HYMEN REPLACEMENT???
I think doing it for cosmetic reasons is a bit over the top beauty wise... i mean all vaginas are different and you can't expect yours to look like someone elses.
I did know of a girl that got the surgery done because she was actually in pain because her labia was too long and kinda dragged in her panties.. that wouldnt be nice

Re: labiaplasty - HYMEN REPLACEMENT???
If its a pain issue, absolutely. But all other reasons are facile. God women have enough to worry about without the size and shape of our pink bits!
And the idea of reconstructing the hymen is just bizarre. Reminds me of those cultures where women are stoned to death if the hymen is not intact on their wedding night.

Re: labiaplasty - Why?
I would have thought any Woman would know what having any kind of Labia felt like....
Back when those photos were posted via a link i didn't see them, now it looks to me like some one went in and turned a Permaculture garden into a high maintenance Government Garden!
